Body

The first part of buliding the body is to cut the sides and ends from styrene.

Then the part I dread: cutting the openings.  Here you can see I’ve cut the openings for the windows as well as the grill.   I’m waiting to cut out the one for the door, as that will really weaken the side.

One of the ends is also shown. I’ll be cutting the window openings next.

This will house the battery, as well as look something like a diesel engine when you look through the windows.

I have put the walls up and added some interior detail that probably will never be seen!

I’m starting to suspect that my “diesel engine” will be very tough to see once the windows and the roof are in place. I decided to use the door from the original model.

Next up is the roof. It will have to be removable just in case I ever need to access the electronics.

It is all wired up now, with the battery in the engine, and the RCS pieces behind it.  There are two switches pictured:  one for power and one to control the volume of the sound.
