Gas Station

I wanted an old gas station, so I used “Google” to search for images. This was a picture I found on the web of an old gas station.

I decided to use it as my prototype, though my model would be a bit different.

The first step was to find some old pumps.

I found a kit at R&D Unique that offered the old Frye gas pump. Actually a pair of them. They were fairly straightforward to assemble and turned out quite nicely.

I also modified one of my old figures to remove his suit coat and tie and add suspenders.

Next, I built a mockup using Precision Products “Perfic Panels” which are Styrofoam panels about a quarter of an inch thick.

They can be easily cut with a knife. In other words, it took about 15 minutes to see how this building might actually look.

I used Grandt Line plastic castings for the windows and doors.

The finished model:

After the winter, I had to do some repairs...thought I’d go ahead and change the people and the vehicles to 1:20.
