I bought this Pola Freight House back in the eighties for my indoor layout. When I built my layout outside, it was one of the first buildings I put out. It’s weathered a bit over the years and it seemed a little too tiny for the traffic I wanted to generate. Bob McCown runs LargeScaleCentral and it seemed appropriate to name a freight house after him.
The windows and doors looked close to 1:20, so I decided to keep it and see what I could do to make it look larger.
The siding where it is located is rather skinny, so I just made it longer.
I used 2 pieces of acrylic to create a new roof that was 30 inches long. I built a platform and covered it with some redwood strips that I had.
The roof was covered with cedar shake shingles. It took about 4 hours to complete the roof, but I really like the look.
