Ready to Paint

Sizing   Boiler & Pilot   Tender   Making Progress Completed

After further study and a lot of input from the forum, I decided that the brass smokestack really was too small in diameter. I used some plastic pipe and some trim strips to make a new one. It now has a heftier look.

I was able to use the “plumbing” from the original model inside the cab to make it look a bit busier.

Since I have stretched the length of the locomotive, I had to add some filler underneath the cab.  I just used some stryene to build this up and provide a place for the tender to attach.

I used some “diamond-tread” pattern plastic sheets for the platform between the locomotive and the tender. It’s hinged with doll house parts to allow it to lift up to couple the tender to the locomotive.

Now, I just need to finish the electronics and then it’s off to the paint shop.
