Trestle

The original track plan called for a sharper curve here, but the end of the curve would have been too low, so I moved it towards the edge of the yard;  here I can build up without interfering with the plants.

But, the grade was steeper than I thought so I elevated the track.

I originally thought I’d build a raised planting area here, but that would require a LOT of dirt, so I went back to the drawing board and designed a trestle and metal bridge combination.

Here’s the first part of the trestle, drying after I sealed it.

The metal bridge is hiding behind it.

I still have to remove the roadbed - it was too hot to do that today.  But, I did spike the track down.  It took about 250 spikes to get the job done.
